Local ‘1% for SA’ Sponsors
The ‘1% for SA’ Initiative is a social compact between business and society. The triple bottom line — People, Planet and Profit — in action. The best part is that everyone benefits. Sponsors that fund projects get more public attention — a win win outcome! We thus actively encourage people to support ‘1% for SA’ sponsors.
Local ‘1% for SA’ sponsors donate 1% of their turnover to projects / NPOs registered with the uMngeni RegenCAN Chapter.
An Equitable Transition
Community Upliftment
50% of the funds raised by ‘1% for SA’ are used to pay for RegenCAN community upliftment projects. This includes the development of new infrastructure, maintenance and repairs to existing infrastructure, and other actions that benefit communities.
For the best outcomes, the uMngeni RegenCAN Chapter works closely with communities, local organisations, and the uMngeni Local Municipality. The local RegenCAN community upliftment projects will soon be listed in the uMngeni Exchange payments system — umngeni.regencan.co.za — which will be managed by the uMngeni RegenCAN Chapter.
Rescue Earth System
Regenerative Restoration
50% of the funds raised by ‘1% for SA’ are used to pay for RegenCAN ecosystem restoration projects. The funds are predominantly used for projects working on the 20+ Regenerative Restoration Initiatives of the Rescue Earth System.
The 10 Ecosystem Restoration Interventions (ERIx10) are a key way that the labour costs of the RegenCAN ecosystem restoration projects are funded by private individuals. Funds raised from local business by the ‘1% for SA’ initiative are thus primarily used to pay for equipment hire and materials.
